GREETINGS TO ALL interested in the field of responding to drug use and blood

borne diseases !!!

A Network for reducing drug related harms in the North Eastern Region of India

NEIHRN has been established in Imphal by a group of individuals and

Organizations working for addressing the epidemic of drug use and HIV/AIDS in

Manipur.

NEIHRN is conceived to promote in scaling up, upgrading and enhancing drug

treatment programs and blood borne disease responses in the NE region of India.

It considers injecting drug use and blood borne diseases in this region as an

interwoven public health issue and not in isolation.

It is seeking participation from Organizations in the NE region who have

interest and are willing to contribute.

Objectives :

Policy advocacy for expanding public health responses

Sharing/updating of resources and information on responses to drug use and blood

borne diseases.

Defining a minimum standard of service in responses targeting drug users and

blood borne diseases

Establishment of a common resource center for Harm reduction

Providing training, organizing workshops, conferences, seminars and capacity

building Publishing newsletters and developing IEC materials, fliers, posters,

manuals, modules etc. for harm reduction suitable for the NE region

SCOPE :- It will co-operate with all the relevant organizations (both NGOs and

GOs), officials and professionals/experts in India for promoting Harm Reduction,

as a public health approach in areas where injecting drug use exist. It will

seek help, support and guidance from experts (individual & Organizations) and

also from National, Regional and International bodies. It will also support and

cooperate with them in promoting harm reduction not only in this region and in

India but also globally.
