I recently went through a " high " fever with my little boy (14 months - I use the quotes around high because it was 105 and I knew intellectually that it wouldn't cause permanent damage, but when it's your baby it's really hard to stomach). I read over all my fever information again (in Mendelsohn and other books) and looked for input from some of the more experienced moms on one of my greatly informative lists (since I was quaking in my boots). One thing that kept coming up was that febrile seizures often (always?) are caused by sudden spikes in temperature, not gradual climbing - in your child's case, this sudden spike could have been caused by artificially reducing the fever with Motrin and then the fever spiking back up before the next dose. Something to think about for the future - that artificially reducing the fever may, in fact, cause the very problem that you're trying to avoid. > >Take care, >Amber excellent Amber -------------------------------------------------------- Sheri Nakken, R.N., MA Vaccination Information & Choice Network, Nevada City CA & Wales UK $$ Donations to help in the work - accepted by Paypal account vaccineinfo@... Guest guest
You have to use more symptoms than body aches - you have the book, Lashanna. Gotta look up all the symptoms like we are doing in class Sheri At 12:00 AM 01/26/2002 -0000, you wrote: >That is what I gave my baby last night. It did not take it down >immediately. Guest guest
Nope. I don't use anything at all. Don't drink alcohol <have never been a coffee drinker, yuck>, don't smoke <anything>, no medications of any kinds. I'm still nursing my youngest, and feel bad if I drink a soda that has caffeine in it <which I don't allow in the house... it's something we only indulge in if we eat out>. I'm usually extremely healthy. I usually only get sick maybe once a year, and it's usually a 24 hour or less kind of thing. It could be the wrong homeopathic remedy, or it could be that my immune system has already mounted the defense and just didn't need the homeopathic boost so didn't seem to respond to it. The only time I've really seen noticable impact taking homeopathics, is with my allergies. And even then, the effect is much greater on my kids than it is on me. When I was a kid I cut my knee really bad, and the doctor said he had to use more local anesthetic on me to numb the area <prior to getting stitches> than he'd ever used on anyone else. When I was in labor with my oldest, the nurse gave me a shot of stadol during transition pretty much against my will, but the effects of the shot never even really hit me <of course, at that point I was kinda on natural endorphin overload>. There are more experiences, but they get boring fast. My body is just resistant, and/or reacts oddly to things. Guest guest
I did. The only thing that he complained about at the time was body aches and a headache. I looked in the book and it indicated that for people who had flu with body aches. > >That is what I gave my baby last night. It did not take it down > >immediately. Did it sound like him when you read about rhus tox in the materia medica. You need to find out more things - what makes his headache worse or better. Where is the headache. What does the headache feel like. What makes the body aches worse or better. What do they feel like. Other symptoms. Then reperorize on the chart. > > >> >That is what I gave my baby last night. Guest guest
Which book was that? My dh starts to freak as soon as they start to feel hot but I am the calm one. I evaluate their behaviour and soon I'll have HP knowledge and a practitioner if I get concerned. I don't even have a thermometer in the house except for a basal temp one for monitoring my ovulation time! He thinks 104 is high but I've never heard 107. Cool! Laurie<Oh I was just reading a sears book last night and he said there was no concern till you hit 107.
Guest guest
It's " ....in Spite of Your Doctor " That book decided my decisions on vaxxing in 1987 and I've never looked back... Get a copy of " How to Have a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Pediatrician " by Mendelssohn... It says that it's the rapidity of the onset of the fever that can cause a problem, not the temperature. Apparently, the human body will not go over a fever of, I think, 105 (would have to check my book) unless caused by chemical poisoning or sunstroke... anyway, it won't go to the brain damaging temperature naturally....
