Guest guest
I have a cool mist humidifier that uses a paper wick filter. As some of you know already, these filters cost a lot of money to buy because they have I have to be replaced a 2-3 times in the winter and they are difficult to find locally. Has anyone used a towel with success? I had a double layered towel around a thick a/c filter, but it doesn't seem to evaporate at the same rate as the paper wick filter. I tried using a thick a/c filter at first, but that definitely did not work. So, now I use the a/c filter as a support mechanism for the towel. But as I said, the water doesn't evaporate at the normal rate of the wick filter. Has anyone tried just one layer of towel or another alternative that will work? I'd like to make my own permanent filter that I can remove and wash. I also add a drop or two of lavendar oil since it's supposed to be anti-bacterial. Thank you for your help.
