Greetings!

We would like to introduce to you, the Society for Promotion of Youth &

Masses (SPYM), a non-government organization working in the area of

health and social development since 1984. Through our well-designed

programs of empowerment, education and motivation, we reach the

disadvantaged sections of the society, mostly women, children and youth.

As part of the Community based Care and Support Program for people

living with HIV/AIDS, SPYM is working on concerted advocacy towards

provision of an enabling environment, and better access to treatment and

care for People living with HIV/AIDS in health care settings in Delhi.

We plan to document the various problems that come in the way of access

to health services for people living with HIV/AIDS and also organize

advocacy workshops at three levels with the doctors, nurses and ward

boys in the hospitals that we will be working in.

In this regard, we need your support and contributions in any one of the

following ways

1. Contributing any documented cases of stigma and discrimination faced

by your clients in health care settings.

2. In case you do not have any documented cases, and your staff or

clients would still like to share their experiences with health care

settings, we would be able to send one of our staff members to talk to

them (in case you are in Delhi).

3. If you could give us references of other agencies or individuals who

can be contacted and who would like to share their experiences with us,

that would also be a big help.

Looking forward to your cooperation in moving towards creating an AIDS

friendly environment in health care settings,

Yours truly

Priyanka Prabhat
