Minor rape on the rise in Delhi

Statistics collected by Delhi Police over the last three-and-half years reveal

that this year out of the 233 rape cases registered in Delhi, 152 victims are

below 18 years of age. And out of them, 25 are below seven years

of age. In almost 90 per cent cases, rapists are known to the victims, while in

three-fourth of the cases reported, the victims are minors. A district-wise

report revealed a high incidence of rape cases in resettlement colonies like

Trilokpuri, Sultan Puri, Seelampur, Shahdara and Seemapuri. (cwdslib)
