Some folks say that selenium inhibits lead and cadmium, knocking it out of the body. I haven't seen alot of evidence to support that though. There is evidence though that both selenium and E help mitigate the negative effects of many types of metals toxicity and that selenium is especially important in arsenic toxicity because arsenic depletes the body of selenium. The DMSA (and ALA, according to a few folks on this list) actually binds with toxic metals and removes them from the body.
