Guest guest
Bermuda mom has query on chickenpox and MMR vaccines Hi. My 17 month old is unvaccinated with the exception of three Pedvax (HiB) shots I allowed her to receive as an infant (I didn't know any better). She has just as I have recently returned to work part-time. Fortunately, my mother runs the daycare and is willing to make a request of the other mothers to inform her when their child is to receive any of the vaccines which contain live viruses. As these viruses can be present in stool, I'd like to know for what length of period are the viruses from the MMR and Chickenpox vaccine present in a child's stool? Also, can the virus be present in a child's saliva, mucous discharge or vomit? I'm tyring to take every precaution possible and am willing to remove my child from daycare during the times the other children are vaccinated with these live virus vaccines. My mother is also willing to request that any child whom develops diarrhea after one of the above mentioned vaccines stay home to prevent possible transmission to the other children as well as to herself. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I have tried getting my answers elsewhere but to no avail. Many Thanks, Ann
