Guest guest
WTG Angel! No one's going to edge you out of ordering desert either, young lady! The relatives are not thinking " Wow, she's sharing great news about Angel so we can all be glad. "  They are thinking, " This is just a moment for us to exchange news about our kids, like I do with all my other friends. "  They don't get it, and their lives are less joyful as a result. -Gail ________________________________ From: cmfinato <cmfinato@...> IPADDUnite Sent: Thursday, October 27, 2011 10:30 AM Subject: Had to Share  I wish I could share these little victories with family members, but everytime I say something about my Angel, they HAVE to rain on my parade and change the subject to their children. Guest guest
Delay in surgery or angioplasty does not necessarily mean a prognosis of death. My own surgery was delayed for several days awaiting an open bed at another hospital, then several more days to determine if I could survive CABG or if I needed to be placed on a transplant list. Had some very frank discussions with my surgeon and we elected to go for the CABG even though prior to surgery he thought that it would be touch and go. Once in surgery he found my condition horrible but much better than indicated by all my tests. He was even able to perform the surgery without placing me on the heart/lung pump which I've since learned can lead to fewer complications and lower risks for stroke and heart attack. So delay does not necessarily mean bad treatment. > > I'm on a prayer list and this one came today. I just had to share. He was in a hospital on a US military base but they have no cardiologists at that hospital. was on a waiting list to get transferred to a cardiac care hospital 1 hour away. He was eventually transferred on Saturday to have an angioplasty done and to see what treatment was needed. He has still not been treated and is waiting his turn for the angioplasty. Until that time they have kept him in bed and on major blood thinning meds. Guest guest
Having a cardiologist manage an MI is not always that necessary (how many of you had one miss PA again and again?). Angioplasty may or may not be the saving procedure once a heart attack is done anyway and does not mean that's what will be done (while it is likely is from a clogged artery, those aren't the only cause of heart attacks), and putting him on blood thinners and managing his blood pressure IS treatment. There is not much more you do for a heart attack and the military has some of the best trained everything docs. It's not like he would need a heart transplant tonight, or a valve replacement immediately. It's meds, waitful watching, and if they find the clog - if that's the reason - then they unclog it - hopefully anyway as he cold possibly not be a candidate anyway for angio. So getting to a cardiologist is not the saving grace. What they did in the first few hours is and certainly the military ER docs see plenty of MI's. I'm on a prayer list and this one came today. I just had to share. You can draw your own conclusions. "Please pray for my brother, , 62 years old, who had a heart attack early Tuesday morning (April 10th.)
