Guest guest
Hi everyone. I came across this item in a catalog and thought some of you might be interested. The item is described as follows: Herbie the Hydrant Invented by a firefighter, and a winner in the 2001 Search For Invention, this hand-held beacon emits a bright beam of light, flashing strobes, and a rousing siren to help firefighters locate children in case of a fire. Because many small children instinctively seek safety by hiding during a fire, emergency response personnel often have trouble finding them. When a child takes this brightly-colored device from its recharging base, the hydrant's flashlight, strobes, and siren immediately turn on, providing both visual and audible signals to locate a hidden child. A digital display clock begins timing as soon as the hydrant is lifted from its base in order to track the amount of time a child may have been exposed to smoke or other hazardous situations. A quartz analog clock with glow-in-the-dark hands keeps regular time, allowing the device to be used as a bedside timepiece within easy reach in case of emergency. An integral fire-proof compartment accommodates important documents such as medical history and next-of-kin information. A large carrying handle makes it easy for smaller hands to grasp and carry the hydrant with confidence. Includes recharging base, window decal, and complete instructions. 9 " H x 6 " Diameter. (1.5 lbs.) The catalog listed it at $69 but I found a site that sells it for $39 and doesn't charge shipping or sales tax.
