Guest guest
I had tims annual review today (your IEP equivalent). Interesting experience. I was truely dreading it, becoz the school I am moving him from have been very defensive. But I was suprprised. He has lost the speech therapy I fought a year to secure, mind you he lost it as soon as it was given, it was a complete an utter waste of time fighting for it, but thats another story. But generally I was amazed to hear in the review about a little boy who had some initial problems settling but is now happy and content, has been making progress all year, works well in class and indeed is brighter than several within his setted groups in literacy. Nothing about two terms of misery or the level of behaviour problems reported to me, nothing about having needs the school think he has that they can't meet, nothing about reasons for his problems in settling. Just suprise at my descision to move him and how sorry they are that he is going just as he is settling down and how worried they are about his transition (the cheek of it). Anyway, its done, its finsihed, i can move ahead now and forget about it. I am making compromises sending tim to his new school, he has lost most of his speech therapy and there is still no real effort going to happen regarding speech intelligablitiy issues just a general feeling that thats how tim is and we need to find ways to help him express himself other than words. Personally i think tho that is important too that doing something about his speech as well is the only way forward. i can see tho that I am fighting a losing battle here and simply haven't got the enrgy or will at the moment to fight this. He will also lose a lot of hours, 5 a week, I'm not unduly concenred about that becoz its the first 30 minutes of his day and a wednesday afternoon when I don't thinki he'll need much suppport anyway, plus I want him to be less dependant on the csa. So, 4 more weeks and he leaves this school and starts his new ne a week later (after half term holidays). the enw school is being very helpful which is a big bonus. sue wong
Guest guest
Crikey, good luck Maragret. Luv caroline xx > A qucick post to say I'm not around much at the moment because of education problems. We are reholding the AR for last year (2008-2009) because of improper conduct of the meeting. You won't believe the work this has caused. > I just looked back at the final papers sent to the LA for the 2007-2008 year and found that the school had altered the paperwork after the meeting, completing an " All about me " form which had been left blank by ne because H couldn't answer questions. The school had completeed it (it's the parents who should do this)to say that H like school. What a barefaced lie. > Margaret >
