Parent,

You are getting this email because you have previously contributed photos to

a Woodbine House book or have expressed an interest in doing so. I apologize

if this email reaches you in error.

We are seeking photos for a new book by Libby Kumin on teaching

communication skills to school-aged children with Down syndrome

(approximately ages 6 - 14). We expect to publish the book in late summer

2008.

I have taken the liberty of attaching a list of the types of photos we are

looking for. If you would like to send any photos of your child doing these

things and we end up using the photo in the book, we will send you a free

copy of the book once it's published.

Deadline for receipt of photos is April 15.

Communication Skills book:

We are looking for photos of

children with Down syndrome, aged 6 – 14 doing the following things. (Feel free

to submit photos of your child at any age in this range. You do not have to

limit yourself to current photos, although please try not to send photos that

look dated due to old technology, etc.)

Talking

with friends, siblings, or parents

Reading

(or being read to)

Writing

Using

a computer

Using

a phone

Signing

or using any kind of augmentative communication (PECS, communication

board, high tech devices, etc.)

Doing

things at school

Looking

at photos or family photo album

On

vacation/trips

Playing

a card game or board game

Using

a karaoke machine or a microphone

Cooking

or helping to prepare food

Shopping

at a grocery store or clothing store

In

speech therapy

in a play, chorus, etc.

We can use either high

resolution digital photos (at least 900 x 1200 pixels) or prints from a film or
