,

When Jasmine was very small the school system paid for an Alpha Talker for

her.

Check out the national laws and I think there is one in there that was what

we used to get them to do it.

Good Luck in your journey!

I never had an evaul for , but I did get our insurance to at least commit to pay the going rate for ST evaul, around $250 at the time. Not close to covering her costs, but at least it would have helped. You could also try your local service group such as the Lions, Nights of Columbus and Kiwanis for more financial help. Never hurts to ask and you might be surprised! Back when Danny had his eval (6 yrs ago) Medicaid would not pay

for it because SRJ did not have a permanent clinic in our state. You might try

calling Talk Tools to see if they can give you any tips on how to get insurance

to pay for it. She used to have something posted on her site, but I couldn’t

find it just now when I checked.

Here is a page from Speechville Express with some information on

how to get insurance to pay:

http://www.speechville.com/diagnosis-destinations/apraxia/insurance.html

Another thing to do is to contact your employer and ask that

they expand their coverage of speech therapy/evaluations…I never thought

of doing that, but just found this site with sample letter:

http://www.apraxia-kids.org/site/apps/nl/content3.asp?c=chKMI0PIIsE & b=788455 & ct=464289

what state are you in? Sometimes businesses/organizations in a

state will help with funding of therapies.
