Guest guest
Dear all, Down syndrome world day (march 21) is approaching and I would like to share with you an idea that ocuured to me. Since we had a great international convention signed by 122 countries and ratified by 14 (it comes into force when 20 countries have done so), we could celebrate DS day and at the same time join the campaign for it to come into force in our countries. The Un is having a meeting concerning people with disabilities and ways to promote their inclusion in every public policy in february, so, I think it makes sense to join forces. http://untreaty.un.org/English/notpubl/IV_15_english.pdf Take your time to read through the convention that promotes inclusive education, independence and quality of life, among other things, and the paper called Mainstreaming disability in the development agenda, that says that 98 per cent of children with disabilities in development countries are out of school - can you believe it ! Anyway, those of you who are in NY and would like to join the debate (6 to 15 Feb) representing a ngo, can do so, http://esa.un.org/dspdEsa/members/login.asp For more info on the Convention, http://www.un.org/disabilities/index.asp Cheers, Pat mum to - Brazil Abra sua conta no , o único sem limite de espaço para armazenamento!
