Guest guest
We have received a lot of feedback regarding the petition and would like to honor the request of many to allow family members, friends, medical professionals, teachers and therapists to also voice their support. Please forward the following: Please sign this petition and forward to family members, friends, teachers, medical professionals and therapists of children and adults with Down syndrome. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/DS-advocacy On March 21st we encourage everybody who has signed this petition to print it and take it to their OB/Gyns to encourage them to provide accurate information to their patients who receive a prenatal diagnosis, and make sure they know of the resources currently available to them. Also, please print and send a copy to your congressmen and senators to encourage them to vote for the Brownback/Kennedy Prenatally Diagnosed Conditions Act. The Petition currently lists the National Down Syndrome Society and the National Down Syndrome Congress as the recipients. As additional information has come in when this petition is completed we will be including ACOG and Senators Kennedy and Brownback as recipients with the following cover letter: The Attached Petition signed by ______(final number of)________ parents, family members, friends, teachers, medical professionals and therapists of children and adults with Down syndrome shows support for providing balanced, accurate and up-to-date information to parents who receive a prenatal diagnosis. This petition supports the challenge of the NDSC and NDSS strongly encouraging health care professionals and organizations like ACOG to partner with them to ensure the widespread proliferation of balanced, accurate and up-to-date information to expectant parents. This petition also supports the pending vote in Congress for the Brownback/Kennedy Prenatally Diagnosed Conditions Awareness Act.full wording of the bill located: http://brownback.senate.gov/pressapp/record.cfm?id=233702 We believe it is sad that legislation must be enacted in order to provide accurate, timely, unbiased information to assist parents in making a decision on the future of their pregnancy, and implore ACOG to work in conjunction with the NDSS and NDSC to create easily accessible internet based education programs for their members and patients, and fund the marketing of these programs to their membership.
