Last spring when we had 's transition IEP to go from 7th grade in Intermediate school to 9th grade in high school we discussed him being a team assistant for the football team.

Coincidentally, my husband met the coach at a local bar (introduced by mutual friends) and asked him about being a team assistant and he was up for it...as school approached I emailed the school psyc (who is the one who is supposed to create these liasons) AND I emailed the football coach to see if should be there for 2-a-days...no response. School started, the school psyc kept saying he was just missing the coach and had not been able to talk to him...4 weeks into school I said 'forget it.'

So, as this next semester was approaching I called an IEP for December, and one of the main reasons was to get involved in a spring sport in some way...the school psyc thought that he could participate as a Long Jumper in practice, but not compete unless he qualified for a meet...at the IEP the coach said, 'This is a cut sport, if he can't jump far enough, he will be cut." So, that went out the window.

The school psyc once again suggested he be an assistant for the baseball team (great idea, loves baseball) and supposidly has asked the head coach, who has not gotten back to him yet...one of our friends, whose son is on the baseball team asked the coach last weekend if he was up for having as an assistant and he told our friend he would love to do it.

So, the next semester starts next Tuesday...today the school psyc emailed that he has not heard back from the coach yet and 'will let you know when I do' and I emailed him back that it is rediculous that I can't tell my son what he will be doing for 7th period next Tuesday yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(tomorrow is a minimum day, Monday is an inservice day so Tuesday is the first day back)

Not only that I can't schedule my work appointments since I don't know when he will be home, or if he'll need to be picked up!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cc'd the principal, the Director of Special Ed and others....I'm just burning up.
