Guest guest
Thanks for this reply Dr Bormann. It is full of wonderful information. I will have to look into things more but yes I have read about the bioidentical hormone compounding. It is my understanding that femring is bioidentical hormone as is the prometrium. I am not against hormone compounding but it comes down to an insurance issue. They will not pay anything towards the compounding while they will towards the prescription bioidentical hormones. I know my life is not worth any amount of money savings but I have to find some ways to make the whole budget thing work. I will definitely look into Pet scans should I need any scans in the future. Thanks again for your time in responding. I really appreciate it. Sara Re: Estrogen/testosterone question/ Reply to Sara fromDr.B. Dear Sara: Greetings from Dr.Bormann in S.Calif. I'm on staff with Europa Institute of Integrated Medicine in Tijuana where we treat cancer using an Integrated wholistic approach, as well as haveing my own Wellness Center here in Lake Arrowhead. I'd say first of all that each person's hormone needs vary from day to day and standardized methods of hormone replacement used with cookbook style protocols is risky, bad medicine all around. Next, using synthetic estrogens is not my favorite thing since it is pro-tumor forming (elevated vaginal and cervical CA risk with rings) and also pro-fungal and inhibits thyroid conversion. If it was me, I'd consider bioidientical customized hormone therapy from a good compounder with an Integrative doctor rather than a run of the mill endocrinologist, in the absolute lowest dose my body would need to maintain homeostatic levels. No standardized dosing here. Next, it is possible in women for progesterone (especially in high doses like 100 mg.+) to convert to testosterone, but more likely the Estrogens in the Femring...do you know what the ratios of the hormones in the ring and whether they're biodientical or synthetic or from horses urine?? Also, the Prometrium you're taking is way too strong and in my opinion and you should never ever take hormones orally since over time it causes hepatitis (liver inflammation) since they have to pass through the liver first before getting to the tissue. We only ever use topical or sublingual or vaginal suppositories in low biological levels. DHEA can be elevated and altered by many things so lets not go jumping to the cancer thing...exercize can even elevate it as can HCG injections. Way high levels of Progesterone can do it too...it can also make you sleepy and have loose ligaments so end up with joint and back problems, etc. If you're going to look for cancer in soft tissue, we prefer PET scan since it uses glucose as uptake agent which loads into cancer cells (and fungally infected cells) preferentially. However, I'd not even go there yet...Jesus said " Do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own " Mt.6:34 Hope this helps. Feel free to call my office if you'd like to discuss this offline. God's Richest Blessings Col 1:16-17 Carolyn Bormann, N.D.,C.M.H.T.
