Guest guest
Dear organisers of the ICAAP, Further to the suggestions made by Aditya, I would like to add another issue that is always left out of HIV/AIDS programmes. The issue of the impact of HIV/AIDS on older people. There is no doubt that the older people are the main carers of PWAs in Asia and Africa and provide most of the homecare. They are also looking after a majority of oprhan children. Yet they have been marginalised in HIV/AIDS policies and programmes. Another area that needs attention of the international community is the risk of HIV infection to older people. All figures presented at tconferences are for 15 - 49 age group conveying the wrong impression that there is no HIV infection in people over the age of 50. I hope the ICAAP will lead the way on inclusion of older people in HIV/AIDS programmes. In hope Godfred E-mail: <goddy@...>
