Boycott Kellogg''s to Stop Genetically Modified Foods (GMO) crops

Dear Health Conscious Consumers,

The Supreme Court of the US has given exclusive patent protection to Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) and agribusiness companies such as Monsanto, Dupont etc have developed new seeds that have tried to combine traits different species, supposedly to "improve" on natures "errors". The unintended consequences of these laboratory invented seeds has resulted in some distressing effects on our food supply.

One of the earliest warnings about GMO seeds came from Arpad Puzstai, a researcher in Scotland who found Genetically Modified Potatoes engineered to produce an insecticide to resist aphids resulted rats having gut infections, organ damage and destruction of the immune system

More recently Birth Defects were reported from GM Soy. most soy(94%) in the United States is GMO.

THERE IS A SOLUTION, the first Genetically Modified Product was Milk produced from Cows injected with the Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH). But since the milk had elevated levels of Insulin Growth Factor-1

(IGF-1) which was implicated in Breast Cancer consumers showed a strong preference for NON rBGH milk.

Even creating the strong growth of a market for the more expensive Organic Milk that does not come from cows treated with rBGH.

Finally when consumers pressured their supermarkets and retailers by not buying rBGH produced milk. Large retailers such as Whole Foods, Walmart and Trader Joe's insisted that their suppliers certify that their milk did NOT come from rBGH treated cows. Stores such as Starbucks refused to buy Milk unless it was rBGH free.

The lesson is clear. If enough people refuse to buy a Genetically Modified crop, the manufacturers will accede to consumers demands.

The largest manufacturer of breakfast cereals is Kellogg's. Ironically one of its founders Dr. Harvey Kellogg,MD was a natural health pioneer. You might say he was one of us, trying to make natural healthy foods available. Dr.Kellogg died at age 91 in 1943 his obituary is below:

The Organic Consumers Association is helping to organize the consumer boycott of Kellogg's which also manufactures Kashi Cereals which are called Natural, but this term ALLOWS GMO foods,
