" …he that hath seen me hath seen the Father " - 14:9 What a profound and prophetic clue to life Jesus of Nazareth gave the world when he uttered those words! They paint a nearly perfect picture when coupled with these:· " Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in in Heaven is perfect " - Mt 5:48· " sin no more " - 5:14, 8:11· Forgive your brother " unto seventy times seven " - Mt 18:22· " A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. " - 13:34Would Jesus have commanded these things if his followers did not have the capability of doing as he commanded? Did he intend those words only for his followers or for the whole world? If they do apply to us, then should we take the commands lightly or act sincerely on them while we take the above message to others so desperately in need? The typical “good” father behaves as above to his children, large and small. He knows that even the older teen who looks like an adult doesn’t always see things clearly and needs love, tolerance, patience, and unselfish loving service more than ever then. So does a nagging wife. So does a lethargic husband. So do substance abusers and addicts. So do young adults who seem to think only about their careers and crazy sex. So do old men and women who teeter about and bemoan their aches and pains and the craziness of our government. We (all of us) all need that love and tolerance, don’t we?And, knowing that, who must deliver that love and tolerance to others? Jesus of Nazareth? Sorry, he did his job. But according to his own promise and testimony of others, he sent his personal spirit presence to comfort the people of this world for all time. And that should give the strength and courage to all people to show a wise and loving Father’s Tender Loving Care to those around him. And that means WE must deliver it.And so, we do. I guess by now you realize that I think of every one of you as “fathers” on this Father’s Day. I commend you, each and every one who reads or shares this message, for being the best “father” you can to those around you. Put this in perspective. You ARE the wise and loving “Father” to those around you. If in fact a Heavenly Father does exist as Jesus of Nazareth clearly indicated he does, then YOU are his ambassador on this earth. When others see you, they desperately want to see “the Father” of all in your character, personality, and mode of living. They want your inspiring example in their pursuits of truth, beauty, and goodness. And why shouldn’t they? Whose boy are you? Whose girl are you. Hey, the family resemblance is UNMISTAKABLE. You become more and more like your precious, magnificent daddy every day as you minister to those lucky enough to find themselves in your presence. So, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
