Guest guest
Dear , I use a blender on low speed for a couple of short burst and the juice tastes fine. I have no way of testing for enzymes activity. Do you or anyone in the group know what I should do to check for enzyme activity? Your " manual " juicer is interesting to me because I am going to work in Guatemala for a year or so and I would like a non electric juicer. What is yours like? Name of maker etc.,. Thanks, Grandpa Jerry
Guest guest
Dear Sprout people, I have read in " rawgourmet@... " that the enzymes are retained at temperatures under 48 degrees centigrade(118 degrees F.). Anyone know more about it? Raw gourmet by Noni is an interesting site. Guest guest
Hello I have a champion juicer, which I bought about a year ago. I'm very happy with it, use it nearly everyday. I had a juiceman before that, didn't like it. One of the main things to consider is, how easy is it to clean. If it's a pain in the neck to clean then you are not as inclined to use it. Of course the yield it gets you is important too as organic produce is not cheap & you should get the max for your money. Chris Juicers Hi All! I know this was discussed a while ago, but now I am ready to get a juicer so it's on my mind. Does anyone have an Omega 8001 juicer? Do you have any preferences or recommendations about juicers for wheatgrass and other veggies? Thanks,

A place on the web has lots of good information on juicers http://www.discountjuicers.com they also have a comparison chart of different juicer types http://www.discountjuicers.com/compare.html I'm also dreaming of owning a dehydrator, I'm having a hard time convincing my wife that raw food, juicing and organic are important to our diet. I'm still working on getting her to eat sprouts. Happy sprouting/jucing
Guest guest
Hi! I have been juicing for quite a while and i would like to add to this, if I may. I had a Champion Juicer for 20 years and it was a good juicer for everything but the greens that I now juice. I grow my own wheatgrass and juice a flat to a flat and a half a day. It burned the Champion up. So if you are going to just juice regular fruits and veggies, the Champion is great. But if you want to do Wheat grass, you really need a wheat grass juicer, a Green Power, or a Norwalk. Guest guest
Hello Joanne Thanks for all the great info on wheat grass. I have a champion juicer, and after reading your posts, I would like to include more wheat grass in my diet. Are you saying a champion juicer will not be able to juice wheat grass properly or that it can do it, but the machine will suffer eventually? Re: Juicers Hi! Guest guest
> >I too have a GreenPower juicer, I would be interested to know what types >of problems you're having with yours. Hi, My juicer is putting out 4/5th of foam and 1/5 of juice right now, no matter what I do. It did not do this to begin with so there must be a problem. I have read the manual backwards and forwards, called the man I bought it from, who says he cannot help me and to call the factory, which I did. They told me to put flax seed oil in it, (not an acceptable solution as far as I am concerned.). This juicer is still under warantee and i can get no help. They do not return phone calls etc. I was told the owner was in and then I cannot talk to him. This sends up a red flag as to what to expect. I am now so mad at them I do not think any solution will be acceptable unless its my money back. Sorry, but I am quite upset over this. Sincerely. Guest guest
Joanne, call the better business bureau, Better yet, call consumer affairs. Call the local t.v. station, they always like 'consumer been done wrong by business' stories. <g> Call the person the salesman works for that you bought it from. Call stores, ask them what they suggest. Tell them your nightmare, warn them not to buy this juicer to resell in their stores. Eventually, you might get your money back and you will definitely get a feeling of satisfaction from doing all you can to protect someone else going thru this. And the company *will* find out with all this going on. Bad press is bad press. If you give me/us the phone number, I for one, will call them and tell them they need to replace your $, because the bad press is moving along and no one will buy their product. A few of us doing that should get them moving in your direction. grrrrr, people like that make me angry. Janine fade scars, stretch marks www.HerbaTherapy.com join the newsletter for specials! Guest guest
Thanks Janine! I guess I need all the help I can get! They refuse to budge. Told me they would talk to the owner and have him call me back and now they don't even answer me-just send me to voice mail. I bought it in May last year, It worked fine all summer long, then I started having problems and I called them. They told me I would have to put the cut grass in the refrigerator for a day and the gears in for a few hours each day. I told them that was not satisfactory as the grass looses vitamins after being cut and I like to juice it fresh . Then they told me to add flax seed oil to the juicer. I told that that too, was unsatisfactory, as if the juicer worked well to begin with, its obvious something is wrong. They claim they have never had this problem and so it just doesn't exist, and refuse to go any further. I cannot send it back with out preapproval number and they will not give it to me. The guarentee says its it is guarenteed for 5 years and this is only 8 months old. But I have been in contact with them off and on for a few months. The guy I bought it from also refused to help, saying I have to deal with the factory. Its a green life juicer from the Green Power Company, Santa Fe Springs, Ca. Phone #1-888-618-2078 I bought it from Vitality Plus, Heyworth Ill. On Tue, 22 Jan 2002 13:50:48 -0700, JaninePh wrote: >Joanne, call the better business bureau, Better yet, call consumer affairs. Guest guest
Hi - We have an Omega 1000 and have been very happy with it. They also have a long warranty (10 years) on the unit which was important to us. So far it seems as though I am getting positive feedback on the Champion, Omega's, and Green Power juicers (or is it green star?). Would you both agree that these are all good juicers too? Guest guest
I wanted to mention that the Gerson Institute also keeps a list of used juicers of this type that they recommend -- generally available for about half the original cost or less. They buy back from patients and re-sell the juicers. Peggy In a message dated 3/7/03 5:08:30 PM, writes: << I have researched and tried many juicers on the market. Guest guest
, I have researched and tried many juicers on the market. The Gerson therapy recommends a juice press which will run about $2000 dollars very time consuming and high maintenance. You might be able to find a used one for cheaper if you are really interested in this type. It will also depend on what you want to juice? Are you planning on juicing fruits and vegs or wheatgrass or both. If you are planning on juicing fruits and veg's my personal favorite is the Jack Lalane Juicer on got mine for only $99 dollars when it was advertised at the special price on TV. It has a huge opening for the fuits and vegs and it's very sturdy. I have also owned my share of the Juiceman juicers and many many others. If you plan on juicing wheatgrass it best to use a juicer specifically for wheatgrass. p.s. If you live near Costco they have juiced pressed carrot juice. But I don't think it's organic. -Jan > Can anyone please recommend a really good juicer to me? Guest guest
I have a " Green Power " juicer. I think that it is one of the better juicers a person can buy. The Omega is supposed to do a pretty good job. These juicers are quite a bit more spendy than your Target variety juicer. Many of the lower priced juicers use centrifugal force to seperate the juice from the pulp. That is they spin the pulp till the juice flies out. My thinking is that this approach of seperation will reduce the antioxidant benefit of the juice because as the small particles of juice fly through the air the antioxidants in the juice are probably binding with oxygen in the air. The GreenPower machine crushes the vegetables and then uses screws to press the pulp to remove the juice. I think the nutrient value of the juice is better preserved with this machine and other machines that use this method of juice separation. There is less exposure of the juice to the air. One way to test this would be to juice carrots in both type machines and time how quickly the juice turns brown. The juice turns brown as a result of oxidation. I've thought about doing such a comparison test but do not have a juiceman. In the long run, the most expensive part of the juicer is the money you will be paying for the vegetables. So invest in a good juicer. All the best, Jim > Can anyone please recommend a really good juicer to me? I see the ones in > Target and Walmart that say Juiceman Jr. and such but I thought I remember > someone on this list saying there are much better brands out there on the > market. > Thank you, karen > > >

Guest guest
I haven't seen one that I like better than a Champion. They sell for approx. $225 . Get a screen that has the larger holes and you'll get more fiber as well. Most come with the small holed screens, and mine eventually got clogged. I can wash veg, set-up and break-down, and drink the 20-30 ounces of juice in about 20 minutes. It has a semi-industrial grade motor. 3 horse power, I think. Hi Art, For me, there is only one answer... my Green Power for greens and veggies, and my VitaMix for fruits. Fruits are for cleansing, and because of their high sugar content, should not be taken without their fiber. There's nothing like a banana, blueberry and strawberry smoothie for lunch - yummie! Guest guest
the korean machine is the " angel juicer " . i have one. works great for smaller amounts of juice. like maybe two people. it and the green machine have helical gears that crush the cell walls of the vegetables and extract more stuff with little oxidation. the penalty is more time assembling and disassembling. the benefit is juice keeps longer and loses less nutrition. my angel is all stainless steel. >I have a friend who has lived on only a liquid diet the last 6 years. Flynn I have used both the Green Power juicer and the Korean Angel Juicer. The Angel is more expensive, but it is a better juicer. All stainless steel, powerful motor. The Green Power is a similar design but plastic parts and less durable, less powerful than the Angel. The Angel's heavy duty twin mesh rotary steel cutting blades will juice everything. Put in fresh rosemary and get rosemary juice! The only downside I've heard about the Angel is that the company's customer service and support have not been very good. But man, what a juicer! best, Colin Yardley
