Guest guest
Jill, What encouraging news! I bet Tanner was as delighted with himself as you all were with him. How much Paxil does he take and how long did it take for the side effects to get smoothed out? See you soon! Jacqui

Guest guest
Hi All, This is not an endorsement for any medication, just thought I'd update you on how life is going with Tanner. This is month two on Paxil. Tanner's finger/hammer/toy flipping has almost stopped completely. He is making more eye contact and communicating more with us. He is staying with the rest of the family instead of hiding out in his room, although he still prefers to watch videos in his room if given the choice. His teacher is noticing the same changes at school. We went out to dinner last night with our family - fourteen of us in a VERY LOUD restaurant. Tanner sat appropriately, ate his dinner, didn't " stim out " , and here's the most amazing part: He walked to the other end of our table - it was his own idea - said " hi Aunt " and gave her a kiss. Continued around the table.... " Hi Aunt " and gave her a kiss. Went back to his seat and continued with dinner. Our birthday celebration mushroomed into a " Hooray for Tanner " festival! On a much more personal note, I have not thought of medicating myself since Tanner has been on Paxil! OK, I guess it is an endorsement for medication...hahaha Jill hoping that everyone has switched over to onelists.....eager to share my good news
Guest guest
Jill What wonderful news. I'll have to keep this one in mid when I take Matt to the psych in 2 weeks. Congrats, Tanner. Guest guest
Jacqui, Tanner takes 10 mg. Paxil once a day (we started on 5 mg once a day). The side effects took a couple of weeks (not daily, thank goodness) to get smoothed out. We give Tanner the Paxil in his new morning " cocktail " .....applesauce, Metamucil and Paxil. The Metamucil didn't make much sense to me, since I thought it was for the opposite *problem*, but it seems to have worked beautifully. Guest guest
Hi Kathy H. and , How WONDERFUL to hear about Steve and Ziv's great school year start. I think it makes all the difference of their success can steamroll from the beginning. I hope that Kelsey can become as adept as Steve at taking personal responsibility for her OCD some day. And I wish we all had teachers with OCD! Take care, in San Diego

Guest guest
Hi ! It's great to hear from you again, and to hear of such terrific progress! You mentioned that you have fibromyalgia. There is a terrific success story that recently got posted online, about a woman who attributes her triumph over fibromyalgia to her dedication to BFL. Her before and after pictures, thoughts and tips are available, as well as a RealAudio interview that you can listen to on your computer. Her story is at BodyChangers - an independent Web site not affiliated with any specific exercise program or supplement company. Many of the success stories there feature people who've made great transformations with BFL. A number of this group's members, including our moderator , Cheryl C. and others I'm probably failing to mention (pardon my forgetfulness, champions!) have their pictures and stories there, too. Anyway, the link to the site is http://www.bodychangers.com - and the direct link to the interview of Pierce, the woman who used BFL to triumph over fibromyalgia, is http://www.bodychangers.com/mpierce_inter.shtml On that same page, you will find a link to 's e-mail address. I'm betting that if, after listening to her interview, you have questions for her, she would be able to provide you with some expert advice. Also, you've probably noticed people in the group recommend Hussman's informative Web site, " Why the Body-for-LIFE program works, " at http://www.hussman.com/eas In his Q & A section, Hussman specifically addresses the issue of BFL and fibromyalgia, so you may find his thoughts helpful, too. Here is the direct link to his discussion of fibromyalgia: http://www.hussman.com/eas/qanda.htm#fibromyalgia I hope that together, these sites will provide helpful information and inspiration! I know they have for me. Congratulations on your progress, and best of fortune in making more! Guest guest
Hello Jerry, It sounds like your daughter has been making remarkable gains in the past year. I was hoping to get some of your toilet training tips. My daughter, Emmy, will be 4 in May & i would like to begin potty training but i don't have the slightest clue as to where to begin. My daughter sounds alittle like your daughter. We can now brush her teeth without too much of a fight. She only uses words when she is really, really mad !! Any tips you would like to share, I would welcome them !! May your daughter have alot more progress. Thanks for sharing -- Good news > > I thought I would share some good news, since we seem to share so many frustration and ince many of you have helped us with these and other issues. > Over the past month there have been many changes in : > > 1) She lets us brush her teeth now > > 2) She is (almost) potty trained She stays dry all day and night, and only wears a diaper to poop in. > > 3) She has taught herself to swim (or at least not to drown to quickly) This has been a really amazing thing! > > 4) We just attended an IEP and were athorized 10 hours of in-home ABA to augment the 4-hour a day school program.
