Guest guest
I don't have any advice with the homeopathy other than wait if you can until you can reach your homeopath or until Sherri answers you here. Until then use lots of warm compresses and massage and nurse on that side as much as possible. Warm water from a shower works well too and get as much rest as you possibly can. L. Guest guest
Hi a! Ouch!! This happened with me a couple of times. The only thing that ever helped, was nursing on the affected side. This hurts I know, but only one out of five times nursing, I would use the unaffected breast. Hope you hear from the homeopath soon!! Great news about Kaiden!!! PS: Sue what is your advice on this?? > Hi! I took another 30c. of carcinosin > this a.m. > > Could this be a result of the remedy? Sorry for delay in replying - still catching up on posts. Hope you're feeling better now. I'm a b/f counsellor and as such I would advise you to feed as often as you can from the affected breast, offering that one first, and try expressing as well to shift the blockage. Experiment with different feeding positions to enable the duct to unblock. Try kneeling over your son while feeding and letting gravity help out! Gentle massage, warmth either in compresses, baths or showers will help, in that they assist the milk *plug* to break down. Do remember that cold compresses will reduce inflammation and pain, and help reduce fever. Some mums find that adding extra lecithin into the diet helps with blocked ducts. Reducing or eliminating dairy produce often helps too, even if only for a brief period while it resolves. Blocked ducts are almost always the result of bad positioning, or something pressing into the breast tissue when baby feeds. Or perhaps pressure from a seatbelt, handbag strap, or even your own arm while you sleep. Where is the blockage? That can sometimes give a clue. Upper or lower half, medial or lateral side? Or describe it in relation to the face of a clock? From personal experience, I had a breast abscess when my b/fing daughter, now 5 and still nursing, was about 3 months old. Doctor swore blind it was an abscess, but I didn't have any typical symptoms - fluey feelings, fever, aching - only redness, heat around lump (just at side of areola), and tenderness in lump itself. I had it needle aspirated for four successive days and pus was extracted - but I still don't believe it was an *abscess*. However, I had been taking homoeopathic silica to try and deal with breast thrush, and I swear to this day that the silica caused the eruption. I believe it was bringing some rubbish to the surface. It did a similar thing a year or two later, only this time it was an *abscess* on my gum! Although someone said I could have been proving the remedy. I don't believe so. If I can help further, mail me off list. Btw, I too am a *carcinosin* as is my daughter - just had a 1M constitutional dose! Guest guest
I also found that nursing my son with his CHIN toward the side of the nipple with the plugged spot helped --- sometimes it means laying down with his feet up by my head --- but hey, it works everytime! Also too, hand expressing in a hot shower --- thumb closest to the side with the plug (you get more pressure/drag that way). Just some ideas from a fellow nursing Mom Stacey Mom to Keegan still nursing happily at 31 months... > Hi a, > > > > Anyway, I digress... my problem is I woke up this a.m. with a > > raging plugged > > milk duct (sorry for the personal details).
