Guest guest
My name is Kramlich. I have four children...two living and two gone before they were born. My oldest is Alison . With her, I was very wary of vaccinations and did a good deal of research. In the end, I acquisced and she now at the age of 4 has had all of her 'baby vaccinations' except for the chicken pox vaccine. She is not likely to receive her 4 year old vaccinations, however. My personal experience with vaccines has not been good. I had the measles and rubella at the age of 4 even though I was 'properly' vaccinated. I still do not have an immunity to either and I firmly believe this is because I was vaccinated before I got the disease. I also had some reactions to the vaccines according to my mother. Alison, for the most part, tolerated the majority of the vaccinations well outwardly, but the more I learned the more wary I have become. So, you may ask, what brings me to this list. Well, I have another little one who is nearly 7 months old. She is a survivor of a uterine rupture and because of that has HIE, seizure disorder, developmental delays and a pending diagnosis of CP. I already feel angered that the medical community did this to her and I have no desire to further interfere by giving her vaccines. The problem is, I'm having a terrible time finding a pediatrician for her. I feel pretty strongly that she needs a pediatrician because they are typically the most knowledgable about developmental delays and such. However, many of the pediatricians here will not see a child who is not vaccinated. I even had a pediatrician tell me when I was visisting to see if she was suitable " You are a terrible mother to do this to your child. Don't you care about her well being? " Then in the next breath she told me she would not see my child. I wanted to say " How dare you say *I* don't care for my child when you're the one denying her the attention she needs. So I sent her a letter stating all the reasons I'm not ready to get her vaccinated. Another, more selfish reason, is that until I'm aware of the extent of igh's disabilities, I don't want anyone to have something else to blame them on. I don't want her disabilities blamed on a vaccination when I know the real reason for them. Any advice on how to find a pediatrcian with good sense, respect for a parent's decision and knowledgable about disabilities would be greatly appreciated. K.
