Guest guest
The Harper classes are designed and only geared toward people with disabilities. With curriculum designed for the needs of the students and provide aides for the classroom. COD people have told me that people with disabilities can take their continuing ed. classes with others, as long as they are not a disruption. COD does have a vocational training program for automotive, office and hospitality type jobs. Harper will be looking to add that type of program. Lets compare apples to apples. Mike Baker Harper College I've posted before about new enrichment classes and the planning of vocational classes, at Harper College in Palatine being offered for special needs young adults. Enrichment courses are currently being offered this spring, through the Continuing Education program. There is no out of district fees to apply. Question is this. What do you think it would take for parents to sign up their kids for classes? Thanks Mike Baker
Guest guest
But College of DuPage does have a curriculum that is specific to those with DD. Included are 2 classes on general vocational skills. http://www.cod.edu/programs/vocational/index.aspx " To meet an identified community need, College of DuPage has created the Vocational Skills Program, offering courses to students challenged with mild to moderate cognitive impairment. The courses are developmental-level, non-transferable credit courses designed to develop vocational skills that can lead to competitive, entry-level employment and enhance everyday living skills. " My previous remarks were to point out that COD also has options for PE and, in rare instances, other classes. Sorry if I was confusing. -Gail ________________________________ From: " mbaker721@... Guest guest
For mild to moderate at the extreme. Harper does not have vocational courses right now. We are not talking about the same thing.
