Guest guest
Congratulations ! As there are many parents out there creating solutions for our loved one in their respective communities, please share with us what you find out. I was told that insuring the board was only necessary if they were at risk of being targeted in a lawsuit if they had a large personal fortune, or if the organisation's funds were being mishandled. The insurance would only cover legal expenses, not fines or the boardmember's financial loss. However, insuring volunteers is a good precaution. Have you asked other nonprofits with a similar mission who they use? Thais
Guest guest
When we were starting up the Autism Community Connection, I recall the ARC of IL telling us that membership in their organization came with D & O insurance for our board. Can’t recall the cost, but it was minimal. Of course you’d also need to become a member of the ARC as an organization. Perhaps someone here is more familiar with it, or you could check with them directly, too.
