Guest guest
To my knowledge, there is no trick to getting a link card. It is basically food stamps for those in need. It is closely related to the medicaid card process. The problem may arise if the disabled person resides in a home and is provided with supports from family. I believe all possible support is factored in when deciding if the link card is needed. Maybe a call to DHS would clarify things for you. I have a parent who has been having problems with the LINK card process. They give her different amounts, tell them they are not supposed to get it, then they are, getting the run around. She tried to get a job coach and was given the run around with that and I am not sure if it is the parents or the system. Can somone either help a parent in DuPage County who has questions or point us in the right direction? Is there one point of contact that can help a parent with this that is free and that is not an employee of the state or federal government? Thank you so much. Guest guest
Don spent years, his first career as a DRS counselor. He actually was my person when I lost my vision17 years ago. He spent about 10 minutes giving me information and the rest of the time he gave me the low down on Adam's future. I credit him with giving me the heads up that there is NOTHING for Adam after he leaves school, so get ready, get him ready get the community ready for Adam when he turns 22. He was kindly brutally honest on what I had to look forward to and that was a good thing. Nothing surprised us and we spent most of Adam's time in school getting him ready. I have often referred to Don as the wizened elder of our tribe, though I am not sure he would like the adjective ...elder..but he has seen a lot in his years . He retired from DRS and has been at the DuPage Cill for several years. I guess if we spend enough time on this, we too could become the 'Don' of our community. Guest guest
For SNAP (formerly known as Food Stamps - given in a LINK card), they look at: Income & assets & bills for the household. So, if the individual with a disability is over 18, they can be their own household. If they are in the household of another, they will want to see everyone in the household's income & assets. In their own household also means that the person: cooks, shops & eats separately from others that may reside in the same home but that they are considered their own household. ________________________________ From: Colombo <marleney2@...> IPADDUnite Sent: Friday, January 6, 2012 8:07 AM Subject: Re: LINK Food Stamps help  To my knowledge, there is no trick to getting a link card.
