Guest guest
I used to tie updating ours to the period around Mother’s Day (when, as a good mother, I should do things like this!). Later though, I’ve tied reviewing and updating it to anytime we are about to leave in the care of another (once a year vacation time, for example) and it goes onto the clipboard of info to leave with the caregiver. Every year, I find changes to make. Once it’s on your computer, though, the changes are simple to make. Our son, Mark, who is ’s only sib, gets one. The executor of our estate, and the two wonderful ladies who agreed to serve as co-guardians with Mark, get their copies. Oh, yes, and an updated copy always goes to my husband’s law firm, to our estate/special needs trust guy, to include in his files, too. Ellen and are right; these documents are so very important. IPADD Files has some templates to get you started. If anyone wants to see the one I did for , I can upload that, too. Start with the emergency contact information & just go from there. I remember telling my hairdresser once about doing this, and she got quite offended when she asked me if HER name was in there...and honestly I hadn’t thought of listing the person who cuts ’s hair...and she was like “WELL! I think you need to add me in there!!â€. And of course I did. It reminds me that I have not updated my son's letter of intent in well over a year. It is enormously time consuming but very comforting to have this in place for when it is needed.
