AIDS Education in Schools in Maharashtra

SCHOOL-BASED AIDS EDUCATION IN MAHARASHTRA

Greetings to all,

I have recently joined the list serve and work as a researcher on

HIV/AIDS and Education for ActionAid, an international NGO. We are hoping to

carry out some research on how school-based AIDS education has been implemented

in the state of Maharashtra.

Being based in London, it is hard to know what is actually happening in the

schools in Maharashtra: how many schools are actually teaching the AIDS

curriculum? At what age? How often? How do the teachers feel about their role as

AIDS educators?

I would appreciate any ideas on the above, even if they are only general

impressions.
