apraxia and cramps in hands?

My son Mikey (5.9) is verbal apraxic. He's been improving and we are hopeful. Something strange just came to my attention and was wondering if anyone else has had this occur. He loves to draw and is a righty. Now Ican understand "writer's cramp" in the right hand but why would he need to stretch his left hand too? He says sometimes it hurts him too but not usually. My friend actually noticed this last night and said he was doing beautifully but had to stretch both hands when he was only using one. He said that it is neurological. Anybody else know about this? (always concerned)
