Upcoming surgery

I've been trying to get on this group for days to find

out if anyone has had BOTH a thoracic (open)myotomy,

and a laparascopic myotomy. I'd like to know how the

recovery times compare. I had the " old-fashioned "

open kind 30 years ago, was in the hospital for 13

days, couldn't eat or drink a drop for 11 days, and

was quite unable to take care of myself for about a

month, sore on the left side for months. I'm seeing a

surgeon this week and hope to have the laparascopic

kind, but would like to know what others have

experienced in terms of recovery.
