Guest guest
INSA-India was established in 1982 to facilitate the process of enabling health and development through training and personalised follow-up services. It has been quite a concentrated effort to be part of the process of establishing creditable organisations that are addressing the health and development needs of the community using culture appropraite cost effective methods. But it is possible. Addressing poverty using integrated community organisations approach, self help groups even for HIV/AIDS prevention, are some of the approaches we use. In 1990 when we began offering HIV/AIDS prevention education for youth in schools, colleges and non formal groups, we did not realise the depth of skills we had developed in integrating community based approaches. Today, community based HIV/AIDS prevention programmes have been established in remote areas covering 15 states of India and 3 regions of Nepal. These participants are situated in remote areas, though some have access to e-mails. We shall send you their addresses in a fortnight's time. We would be happy to be part of this forum to share our experiences. Two of our team, AGATHA SHEKAR AND RUNA BHATTACHARYA will be at the Barcelona Conference next week. They are also presenting posters. We would welcome interactions. With best wishes Yours sincerely EDWINA PEREIRA INSA-INDIA 5/1, BENSON CROSS ROAD BENSON TOWN BANGALORE 560046.
