Guest guest
Pacifiers, thumbsucking, blanket, rubbing the tags on clothes, carrying a " lovie " teddybear, all are part of childhood. They are frustration breakers and security devices. The only one of my children that didn't need braces was my thumbsucker. Everyone told me he would ruin his mouth. I ignored them and he outgrew it in kindergarten because he didn't want the other kids at school to see him. His mouth is fine and his teeth couldn't be better and he is a grown man. I remember my daughter always had her blanket and rubbed it under her nose all day long. One day I washed it and hung it on the clothes line to dry and put her in her babycrib without it. When I went in to check on her she wasn't in her crib (had never gotten out of it before) after a short search, I found her in the backyard hanging on to the blanket, standing up and sound asleep. As for the pacifier my grandchildren use them and it has been hard for their parents to break them of it. One child carried two, one for the mouth and one to rub under her nose. At three yrs. she only has the binky at bedtime My with apraxia uses her binky only at naptime and bedtime since her ST has discouraged it so strongly. Everything takes time and kids change from day to day. Just a few tidbits to hopefully ease the tension and worry. Love and hugs to all the kids.
