Guest guest
To, All Forum members and Guest members, I want to hightlight some of the major confutions on the issuing of LIC policies by Life Insurance Corporation of India and Mediclaim policies of four subsidiries of Genaral Insurance Corpotation of India. If any citizen of India wants to take any life policy from LICI, the person has to fil-up one main proposal form ( proposal form no.300 ) In that proposal form, the column 11(j) asks to proposar, " Have you ever received or at present availing/undergoing medical advice, treatment, test in conection with Hepatitis B or AIDS related condition? " The entire question is very unclear and hezy. Apparently it seems that if a HIV infected person does not face any AIDS related condition, the person can take the policy. In vew of the above mentioned fact if any HIV infected person takes the policy from LICI and during the course of the policy if the person die of AIDS, weather LICI wil settle the claim to the nominie of the deciesed person or not. Moreover to get a policy from LICI upto the Sum Assured of Rs.24,99,999/-, HIV test ( for HIV ) is not requried. So any HIV infected person wil not undergo the test and get the policy upto the limit of the above mentioned Sum Assuried. Now again the question arises, weather LICI wil settle the claim or not upto the above mentioned limit. In the Mediclam proposal form of the four subsideries of GICI, there are questions regarding sevaral desieses but none of them of about HIV/AIDS. So one HIV infected person can easily get the policy. Later on GICI can not deny the policy holder if the person be hospitalised for some AIDS related treatment. In the conclution I must say that there should be a clear idea and policy from the respective authorities about this important issue. I also hope that the Forum members wil make their coments as I feel this is mostly required. Regards. Joydev Chatterjee.
