, welcome to the group. I had my first Heller's a little over two years ago. I had a partial wrap with it too. I had problems right after my surgery and I had several dilation's. That seemed to work for about a year and a half and then I started to get worse again. I had a lot of pain when I ate and I was having a lot of trouble in eating and drinking again. Last May I had an open Heller's redo and the surgeon took down the wrap and extended the myotomy.

Both surgeries were pretty non eventful. I was back to work with in a week of my first surgery. My second surgery I was only in hospital for 5 days. I am doing much better after the second surgery. I would really recommend getting a specialist to do the Heller's though. That will make all the difference in the world.

I hope this helps you and if you have any questions please let us know. Take some time too and read over some of the old posts. Once again welcome to the group.

Thanks very much for the reply! My doctor recomends a full wrap rather than a

partial. The botox has worked so well that I'm hedging on the surgery. The

coughing at night and the difficult swallowing have been greatly reduced.

--Hi ,

I am sure by now you have been flooded with ansers fromeveryone on the

myotomy. I had mine in October. I was diagnosed in early August and the

dilation I had at that time only gave me 2-3 weeks releif. I am now a

much healthier person and can eat much easier with water to chase the

food down. It was a wonderful choice and do not regret it at all.

Recovery was also better that I expected. I expected the worst.

I still have trouble with the chest spasms, but before surgery I could

keep almost nothing down.
