Guest guest
I had my third endoscopy yesterday in three years. The first one showed that I had a moderately large hiatal hernia and GERD. The second one was done to dilate the esophagus bacause I was still having trouble swallowing. This third one was done because I had frequent regurgitations after eating and great deal of trouble swallowing - the GI dr planned on dilating again. (First dilation only worked about 1 month). The doctor didn't do dilation because there was a large amount of food and water in my esophagus and he says he thinks I have achalasia and has referred me to s Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore ( I live near Baltimore). With all the reading I have been doing since yesterday, I see that achalasia is a progressive disease - is this why each endoscopy showed something different. Oh, I also had a mamometry test last year that showed some abnormalities. Is there anyone out there from the Baltimore area who has experience with going to Hopkins for treatment for achalasia?
