Guest guest
Quoting kieranne22 <kieranne@...>: > Firstly welcome to the group. I have been a semi active member posting here since my first diagnosis now 4 years ago. I am almost 30 now. My history is I have had a scope, 2 dilations, barium swallow and the ph nasal test. It's real name escapes me at the moment. Then finally now almost 3 years ago I had a myotomy with fondiplication. Only two months after surgery I became pregnant with my first child. I too lost weight in the first trimester and was terribly ill with nausea up to 16 weeks. I then started to gain weight at a steady pace and ended up gaining 11kg's overall. I found by about 1/2 way through my pregnancy the amount of progesterone my body was producing helped immensely to relax my 'E'. In the final trimester I suffered from pre eclamsia, most likely due to my anxiety. But my baby was born 2 weeks early weighing 9Ib 2oz and very healthy. It just shows, that baby will take from your body exactly what it needs. It may leave you feeling weak etc... But be reassured your baby will be coping just fine. I found I had to take pregnancy vitamins and plenty of iron supplements and galorie rich milk shake type drinks like ensure or complan type stuff. Keep it on hand all the time. Keep hydrating yourself and I am sure you will start to feel better soon. Not many woman last an entire pregnancy suffering from nausea, but if it does come to that, like a friend of mine did. She was admitted for IV fluids and nutrition about 5 times in her pregnancy. And again gave birth to a very healthy wee girl. I know it's not a nice time to feel ill, especially when it's your first pregnancy and it is such a magical time. Try am immerse yourself in the other pleasures of expecting a baby. Do your buggy research and start planning that nursery. I am sure you will pick up quickly. I am now expecting my second child. Due this week in fact. I am suffering a horrible head cold, Achalaisa and the anxiety of actual childbirth. So I really can sympathise with how you are feeling. There are others on the board here also who have suffered with Achalasia and child bearing, hopefully some more of them will write also and share their stories. Also I have only gained 6kgs with baby number two, and he apparently is bigger than my first. So just goes to show, it doesn't really matter what you get into you, that baby is going to be fine. Think of the women in Africa and other 3rd world countries and how scarce their food supply is, they still manage to have healthy babies. Just look after yourself, keep up the fluids and stay positive.... It will all be OK. Hope this has helped in some small way. Best of luck and keep me posted.
