Lots of talk from the newbies about spasms so here is my 2 cents

(pence?). Below is a post of mine from January 2006.

As always, we are all different,so your mileage may vary. I've been

lucky, I have always been able to control the spams with cereral,

once I figured out the trick, I was alreay 10 months post heller

when I found this support group.

My spasms are a lot less after the heller, but still occurr, now

almost always 3-5 AM, wierd.

than Las Vegas!)

===============================================

I posted on this subject a few weeks ago, but don't

know the subject line, so I'll basically repeat it.

You didn't mention if you have tried a little food to

stop the spasms. And when you 'spasm' I'm guessing

you mean 'chest pain'. Before I was diagnosed with A

I went to the the emergency room twice thinking I was

having a heart attack, but they just said it was

indigestion (yep, I was misdiagnosed for years). I

also found it insulting when they think I don't know

my body well enough to know there is a problem, but

that is a different story.

Anyway, before my diagnosis I accidentally discovered

that when I eat dry cereal (small

shredded wheat seems to work best for me) the chest

pain goes away.

My theory is that the muscles are

fighting each other and when they have real work to

do, the spasm (chest pain) goes away.

It usually takes 2-3 minutes for relief. I joke and

call shredded wheat " my heart attack medicine " .

I

hope it gives you the same relief it gives me.
