Guest guest
I figured answering all the questions in one post would be easier than doing one at a time. Thank you all for your responses. Very much appreciated. I did have a wrap - I forget who asked. I guess I'm just gun-shy against the dilation. Since the bad symptoms are so far behind me, I haven't been having to think about the major treatment options. I've just put it out of my mind. *sigh* So, I'll make an appointment with my doctor to get another referral. I'm not in the same state where I had my surgery (had it done in Kansas), so the search begins again. I hope the military insurance doesn't make me deal with someone that doesn't really know what they're doing! Last time, the army doc was quick to refer me out. I hope the same thing happens again. For those of you who have had post-op dilations, how long was your relief? Of course I'm hoping to minimize the number of these darn things that I'll need. I'm 32, so I know I'll be dealing with this problem for a very long time. My family tends to be very long lived. Again, thank you so much for your replies! Guest guest
hey Kim - I've had 2 post op dilations in the last 17 years. The last one was over 10 years ago. It really may not be that bad for you. Even if you have to have them every couple of years, it's better than surgery - it's outpatient and I don't remember having any pain during or after, I was just careful with my diet for a week or so after. Just make sure you do something. If your LES is not opening, it's going to cause food/fluid to remain stuck in your E. In addition to the yuck factor, it will cause your E to stretch out over time - that's never good!! good luck finding a new doctor. hope you are soon returning to Happy Swallowing! - in VA. > > I figured answering all the questions in one post would be easier > than doing one at a time. > > Thank you all for your responses. Guest guest
Hi Kim, definitely do some looking for a doctor. I have Tricare too . (husband just got out of the Army though. He got injured in Iraq and now I have to find some new insurance) Anyway, Tricare was excellent about letting me choose the doctor I wanted for this disease AND they even paid me mileage because there was not a specialist for A within 100 miles. Just do your research. I am in the same boat as you now anyway and can relate - I havent had anything done since my Heller in April 05. Guess I had better get on it before my insurance expires in September! in Illinois > > I figured answering all the questions in one post would be easier > than doing one at a time. > > Thank you all for your responses.
