- I am sorry that Tia has Achalasia, but am grateful that she was

diagnosed without suffering for many years with some unidentified

ailment (as many of us on the board were). We are so glad you found

this group and that you are finding answers and great care. Tell Tia

we are thinking of her, and give her a hug from Jo in Michigan

(who happens to be taking care of her two week old grandson tonight).

Its good to hear that Tia's finally had her test done and it has been

confirmed for she has Achalasia. (obvioulsy not good news that she has

Achalasia but at least it has been confirmed now if you see what I am

trying to say)

At least now she is going to get the help she needs and in a few weeks

time will be able to eat and drink again all her favorite foods, bet

she can't wait to eat those burgers and pizza again.

Hang in there this is the worst part (the waiting but it will be

soon over)

Give Tia my love I am thinking of you all.

Love

Pippa (England)(6 weeks today since my open surgery)

has a good point and a wrist band has been mentioned on here a while back. I even had a similar item shipped from the states and also were an SOS Talisman. Another reason I read about on here was that if you were unconsious for any reason and they laid you flat you could have problems with food coming back and possibly blocking your airway.

Hey - I felt my mama bear coming out for you. You know thething that sucks about A is that because no one has ever heard of it-

you run into this kind of thing. If Tia was asthmatic or haddiabetes, the sub would probably have not questioned her need to eatsomething or go to the nurse but because it's A...I do have a suggestion - have you thought about getting her a medical

alert bracelet? Not even something that she wears all the time butone she could keep in her bookbag? Then she could put it on and showit to the teacher, maybe that would make it more 'credible'. She of

course shouldn't HAVE to do that but it's better than sufferingthrough spasms needlessly. I'm also thinking in terms of field trips, summer camp and that kind of thing. It may help her to just not have

to explain anything cause let me tell you, the last thing you want tohave to deal with during a spasm is lengthy questions!!I would definately go and have a very good talking to to thatprincipal at the school, the subs behavior was inexcusible!!

Ann made a good point. Tia has some wonderful and very caring friends.Hugs to you all.- in NC------------------------------------
