Guest guest
Hey Dawn, I think I’m creeping up on needing another one soon….LOL I keep saying that!!! Seems to not be getting a lot worse, but not better really either…I’m managing!! Well at least my waist line says I am LMAO!!!! Has to be all the sweets!! We’ll see here soon, I’ve completely changed my diet, to fresh fruit, veggies (these tend to give me some trouble here lately) and more fish!! Heck if I go back to Dr Achkar I’ll have to fly now!!! I live to far away LOL. in Arkansas From: achalasia [mailto:achalasia ] On Behalf Of dawn Sent: Sunday, January 06, 2008 5:20 PM achalasia Subject: Re: Need some advice post myotomy I had Dr Rice so the surgery and then for post surgery problems which I didn't have for about 3-4 years....the swallowing difficulty was MILD, but rice referred me to Richter. He did 2 endoscopies and a stomach study and then he left for Temple and now I have Dr Achkar. My last pneumatic dialation was in 2002. I am going to get another one Tuesday....8:30. WOOT! Guest guest
He did my last dilation…he’s a bit of an odd cat I guess you could say. I went in with the hopes that they could fit me in, since I was in Ohio from Indiana…didn’t eat that morning just in case the could get me in. LMAO he comes in and says “well lets take a look see (endoscopy) and while I’m in there I’ll just give you a kick in the butt (dilation) and send you on your way” LMAO!!! He came into the room and I told him I didn’t want to know or remember anything…he says “Ummm well ok, lets see what they gave you the last time”. I had versed and Demerol, don’t remember a thing!!!! How nice versed is!!! He said I had a little catch in my scar tissue and that was it, everything else looked great. Now I still have issues every once in a while. Mine seems to be linked very tightly with my stress levels!!! I have just recently started having issues with fresh veggies, bread almost always and beef tends to not like me. I know that I don’t have much if any peristalsis left, as long as I have something to drink the blockage will pass in mere seconds…so I’m not real concerned, although my new doctor down here yelled at me for not having a barium done in the last 3 years. I don’t believe that Dr. Richter would have left his position if they didn’t have a good replacement, and he seemed to be as far as I could tell a nice and competent doctor (not that it really matters but I believe he is Indian). Guest guest
I usually come out of stuff slow too!!! You know when they ask you if you have any reaction to meds to put you out…that’s all I usually tell them!! Yeah that whole first time thing…never really sure what to expect..heck I feel like an old pro now…I go in.. tell them which vein..and look at the nurse and say “Night, night”, I usually get a chuckle out of the nurse!! Heck as much as I know sometimes I think I should go into the health care field, but I don’t like poking people!!! I do hate that numbing spray though. I feel like my throat is closing up. I'll do fine and I'll have my hubby there for support. And to kick me in the but to get up. Plus I have the xray after so I am guessing I will be somewhat aware.......yeah...I hope so.
