Dear Andy, All being well your nights in the recliner should be over and you will be able to get back to the luxury of sleeping in a proper bed. From what I have read the majority of us use as many pillows as we feel we need, just to help with gravity. It makes sense I think. For me it's 3 flattish ones. They seem to work better than 's one fat one. You will find out by experimenting which feels right for you. What I can tell you though, is that prior to the myotomy I used to wake up regularly coughing in the night from food which has migrated upwards into the bronchial tubes. Since

the myotomy, that has not happened to me on a single occasion. This is a very important point as aspiration puts us in danger of all sorts of infections, including pneumonia. So that's something else to look forward to. Stay positive. My thoughts will be with you. With love from Ann xx
