Guest guest
Hi Just a little question for you experienced Achalasian’s – what the usual method of closure on the lap myotomy I have 14 metal staples – 2 in 2 cuts, 3 in 2 cuts and 4 in the other cut. All the cuts are very small though but I am not looking forward to having them removed on Friday – take some pain relief first I think would be a good idea. I never received the original of this message, just the replies. Oh, well. I had some kind of super glue stuff to close the incisions. It just fell off over time. I didn't have anything else to remove. notan
Guest guest
I am sorry you are having spasms but as I read your post I cried both for you because I know what you are suffering and then I cried because all this time i thought i was the only person in the world going through that. It is so scary and sometimes so severe with me I can't breath or I spit up blood. I discovered eating crackers helped all on my own and as I read your post I came to realize that others do it to. I hope the spasms cease and thank you for sharing your experience. > > > > Good night everyone .. Guest guest
Oh, I may have mislead you about my spasms, they are actually very mild, usually, they just slow me down and if I guzzle some water and food they are gone pretty quickly. The bad spasms I had were after surgery and that was about 3.5 years ago. There are some here that get ones so bad they roll on the floor in pain. Mine aren't at all like that. I can usually keep talking through them, but if I don't get water they last longer. I was warning of the few strong spasms right after surgery or a dialation that are abnormally strong and brought me to tears even through the morophine or whatever I had. I'm sorry you cried, sometimes it helps to let it go so you can get through the rest of the day. I reread my post and my chain of sentences is awkward, so it sounds like I just got out of surgery, but I'm an oldie. Do you eat a little all the time to keep your esophagus busy? It seems kind of common that if you don't try to eat, then it can bring on spasms. Also there is some idea that antidepressants help some, but no proof. Chances are many of us are depressed anyway if we don't get together w/ people often. > > >> > > Good night everyone .. Guest guest
I eat a little all day i had my surgery almost four years ago, my second heller Myotomy and it was bad. I had some complications. Because of the spasm i eat a lot less actuall I have lost fifty pounds. The funny thing is I was always thin with my achalasia and my metabolism is shot so I put on weight quickly after the myotomy. totlaly off the subject but many people thougth I couldn't be sick because I am fat even thought i just lost fifty and so now I have become afraid to eat for the people who don't believe I'm sick , For the spasms and just because So eben though i can eat better now I really dont want to Soory I dont know what just happened there I really rambled- -- In achalasia , " toomuchclutter " <sandycarroll@...> wrote: > > > Oh, I may have mislead you about my spasms, they are actually very mild, > usually, they just slow me down and if I guzzle some water and food they > are gone pretty quickly. Guest guest
Many of us are overweight. There are stories here, last from Joanne in MT, about what doctors say about that, very rude and lacking understanding. After surgery the fatty food goes down easier, and before surgery. When I was first getting diagnosed and had lost 14 pounds in a month the 400 pound PLUS doctor said it hadn't hurt me. I reminded him how hard it is to lose 14 pounds, in a month. This was a gastro specialist... did finally order a barium, and did very wisely refer me on. I still of the vision of his tummy and especially his thunder thighs spilling over that little round stool doctors use. His many layers just draped over that stool, like a really thick table cloth. One time also, when I was really bad regurged water all the time, I had a few glasses of wine and ate steak, got through about half of it before it was too much. People were confused the next day when I couldn't eat jello. But jello is not easy to eat for some of us. After the dialation I gained 20 pounds in about 1 month, my metabolism was so bad. It took about a year for my body to adjust to getting food and I gained more and more. I've been stable for about 2 years, even lost about 10 pounds from the high, but it is a long battle w/ food. Good luck, Sandy > > > > >> > > > > Good night everyone ..
