To,

Dr. Shankar Chowdhury (India)

National Officer, HIV/AIDS

UNESCO New Delhi Office

Dear Dr. Chowdhary, other forum members and Moderator,

We are pleased to note that UNESCO has brought out a Handbook for

India: " A Cultural approach to HIV/AIDS Prevention and care " .

What is astonishing is to note that the UNESCO planned National level

consultation was to be held some time at the end of August 2002 and the

information for which was aired only on 2nd September, 2002. We often

blame the government agencies for communication gaps, but it is least

expected of an agency of the repute of UNESCO.

I hope, we atleast get the outcome of this National Consultation, if

it was at all held!
