I haven't looked closely at this, they do this every year, along with colleges and other things. Interesting.

Personally, I wouldn't say this is the ultimate ranking, as achalasia is so specialized, and this is based on history, things change as personnel move. This link is for digestive diseases, but we all know that could include a lot of things and it is overall ranking. But it is a great guideline that if the hospital you are considering isn't one of the best in your region or availibility, you should look at the ones ranked higher, in general. This is the digestive link, they have links for everything else.

Years ago when stats first came out for heart bypasses it was so obvious, no matter what politics or shenanigians might have happened in the ratings, that experience was the main predictor of a successful surgery. The volume was needed to get the doctors to their highest level. I believe it is the same for achalasia. There may not be a big difference between 1st and 5th, but I'd say there is a huge difference between 1st and 88th, for instance.

One of these came out recently for high schools. I was amazed one was rated much higher than the ones my neighbors and I assumed were better that were our choices. We all would have avoided that high school. (Our district is relatively large and we have choices of about 20+ high schools, that are relatively close enough to attend.)
