Guest guest
Thanks Julee, Peg & Maggie, I think I'm opting for the honey treatment because I know it works for the inflammation. The honey burns a bit, but no more than eyedrops. I also want to see if it helps with the esophageal ulcers and reflux because I really don't like taking medications...anyway, it could be an all in one cure all and i am all for that! So did your insurance cover the cosmetic surgery for the blepharitis? I also have a problem with blepharospasm....not just occasional spasms but constant spasms that drive me crazy...and then theres the severe optic nerve damage and borderline glaucoma...Ugh.... Botox is supposed to get rid of the spasms, but I'm curious to see if honey will work.....it's supposed to work for many different eye problems......warm compresses are a ritual these days. Peg, I looked at the website and didn't find anything about honey, but fell in love with Eva. The unconditional love and dependence of our doggies make it so much more difficult when you hear stories like hers. I was really impressed with your website and the special chair for dogs to stand up in while eating was a brilliant idea! Maggie, I am in the process of changing my other email address if you want to catch up you can email me at sandra.holtsmith@... Happy V-Day, Sandi in No CA Mom to two Goldens. Always feels like I have sand in my eyes andthis goopy stringy stuff is always coming out of myleft eye. After seeing a really good eye doc, he prescribed amedication called something like "Blepharide" (sp) notsure of the exact spelling, but it was drops thatcontain an antibiotic/steriod. This would clear it upand make it better, but sadly it would always returnand flare up, so I would use the medication as needed.A couple years ago, I decided to have cosmetic surgeryon my eyes, upper and lower lids, and guess what, itcured my problem. My eyes are clear all the time andno more goop. I'm sure this doesn't happen foreveryone, but it did help me. My surgeon told me,that in 1/3 of the cases, it can clear up blepharitis.I think that it can be caused by over active oilglands around the eyes. When I had my flare ups, I would use warm compresses, which helped. Try this in addition to the honey. Isuffered with this problem for a long time, it is veryirritating. If all else fails, try the medication. Guest guest
Hi Sandi, I did not do the surgery for my eye problem, it just happened to correct it. It would have been nice for the insurance to pay But no. Please keep us posted on your progress with the honey and if it helps in any way. Guest guest
You two would be quite a pair, having met both of you, really you need to find each other... so next time you come this way Sandi, call us/Julee and of course . About the honey, You might clarify if you are using pasteurized or what I call "real" honey. Year ago, on the ol' family farm in Montana, we had some alfalfa fields and the bee man (never knew his name) would put his bees by the fields. Each year he would give us honey as payment, the real stuff, would get hard, thick, cloudy and last forever. Sometimes in smaller containers and sometimes in 5 gallon buckets. Ahhh, the things you take for granted now, when I look at alfalfa honey in a store. But the unpasteurized honey could have things such as bacteria germs in it, maybe this is what helps, not sure, but some people here may not be clear about what kind of honey. The honey we got lasted FOREVER, could still be some in the basement for all I know, but it was pure, right from the hives and hard. You just heat it to liquify it and it stayed that way for a few months.
