There's a great deal of smoke-n-mirrors being generated between these three

camps (ACA, ICA, WCA) which makes it difficult on the part of the reader or

observer to know what to believe. It seems the aim more often than not of

an opposing group is to generate a warped image or public perception of

their competing body.

Politics!

More political accuracy and clarity seems to come from our chat room than

any other information source I read. The Field doctors must demand from

their leadership unity on behalf of our defense and future.

It may seem improbable, but I continue to hope that, much like the dentists

and podiatrists, we can come to our senses and compromise enough to at

least take care of our self-preserving interests.

Meridel:

More power to you doc. Thanks for all your excellent work. I am glad we

can

claim you as an Oregonian and a chiropractor. There is so much ignorance

and

myopia within the profession...I have DC friends who think that Sportelli

and

Chapman- et. al. are " devils incarnate " and (my friends)use the

Dynamic

Chiropractic to line the Cat box because Don is also a

'medipractic-type' and a " devil " ...if they ever had the pleasure of

meeting

any of those guys they would be floored at how unfounded those fears were

and

how much they had in common with them. Same goes for the

" orthopedically-oriented " guys/gals who think that Rondberg and Koren et.

al

are blithering idiots. We need to really look at each member of the

profession as a colleague rather than a competitor.

It is time to move from a paradigm of " independence " to one of

" interdependence " Our patient's health and welfare would certainly

benefit

and our profession would be stronger than ever.

Hi,

;

An

interesting question is how and why NY and NJ unified into one group.

There have been posts on this board suggesting that clashes of egos of

particular players is what now prevents, if not unity, at least an agreement to

avoid public behaviors by our associations and their representative that cast

chiropractic in an embarrassing light. The problem with that argument is

that the very same sort of thing has been going on since I entered the

profession, now approaching 30 years ago. The names of the organizations

and of the players/egos has changed numerous times. Somehow, the same

kind of thing occurs in which conflicts within our profession, that we choose

to share with individuals and agencies outside our profession, wind up being

used against the interests of our profession as a whole. I’d be

interested in what you know or surmise about the dynamics of the NY and NJ history

in this regard. There is never going to be uniformity of opinion within

the profession in Oregon,

and I doubt very much that uniformity of opinion was required in NY and

NJ. Somehow, those boys and girls must have found a way to play nice

together and team up against the bullies on the next block.

For years both NY and NJ had

multiple chiropractic

associations. They could not pass

chiropractic

friendly ordinances. When they congealed into one

group the legislation followed.

It would be excellent if we in Oregon were mature

enough to follow the leads of NY and NJ.

Thank you, Dr. Simpson, for reminding us that the welfare of those that

entrust themselves to us is the one place where we all can stand.

Fact - Achalasia is a rare disease Fact - t is possible to cope with this disease without any Internet Group However: Fact - Unity makes us knowledgable, strong, empowered, reassured and never alone. I find it to be very sad (in the old-fashioned meaning of the word) that any of us should feel the need for fragmentation/division. MY APPEAL: Just keep an open mind on this. One day this disease will be

beaten. We don't need to be rocket scientists or even dreamers to know that this is true. The answer may be found in life-changing chemical drugs. The answer may be found in a plant that is growing wild feet away from some of us. Anybody who can dispute either of those last 2 statements I invite to stand up and be counted. Meanwhile, PLEASE let us stick together and help each other.
