Hi Nikki,

My daugther was 9 when she was diagnosed with Achalasia. She is now 10. In November, 2006, she had surgery. Today, she is doing well. This is a lifelong disease that we are learning to deal with. Let me know if you want to talk more.

Hey Nikki - I'm not considered a 'youngin' anymore, I just turned 40

but I've had A since the age of 12 so I am proof positive that it is

very manageable and liveable over the long haul. There are quite a few

of us grownups that got diagnosed as teenagers. Does that help?

The youngest I remember hearing about on this group was Francesca out

in Cali. She had a myotomy at age 5. It is rare, but we do exist.

Hi!

Don't feel bad about not telling anyone sooner. I am older (40), I work in the medical profession and I REALLY should have done something sooner about my symptoms I think it is common for symptoms to be reported late and for doctors to take a while to figure out what is going on.

I am glad you have a place to come and read about achalasia!
