Guest guest
These videos should help people to understand achalasia and the difference between classic and vigorous achalasia. Guest guest
The associated article is excellent - as much information as I've seen in one place about A, and several other GI disorders as well. Nice find sir. Thanks! Lee in Atlanta

Guest guest
Those videos of the Heller's myotomy scared the crap out of me....it looks way too easy to cut the Vagus nerve. I want to know what the rate of accidentally cutting that nerve is....it does not seemed to be mentioned in the review articles. I remember someone on the list describing their terrible situation with this. Does anyone have more info about this potential complication? - Jeff Videos of Barium swallows and achalasia These videos should help people to understand achalasia and the difference between classic and vigorous achalasia.Video of barium swallow and classic achalasia:http://www.nature. com/gimo/ contents/ pt1/fig_tab/ gimo20_V1. htmlVideo of barium swallow and vigorous achalasia:http://www.nature. com/gimo/ contents/ pt1/fig_tab/ gimo20_V2. htmlnotan Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
I can't think of anyone who has had the vagus nerve cut in my 5+ years on this board. Maybe some perforations in the mucosal lining, but those are fairly easily repaired. Those were videos of a barium swallow.... not the myotomy. Don't look at myotomy ones if you can't stand blood. The barium swallow is about the easiest test we take. I don't look at the videos of surgery, freak me out. The whole key is getting to the best surgeon you can physically and financially get to. Probably less than 15 that we commonly use on this board in the US. It looks the same to us, but to a surgeon there is no way of making a mistake like that. I'd say, you can worry about a whole lot of other problems more likely than cutting the vagus nerve. Not meaning you should start a new list to worry about. Are you looking for a reason to avoid surgery in your subconscious and that was first one you saw?
