Guest guest
Hi Heard yesterday afternoon that my appointment that was in August has been re-arranged for 30th June this month. Great as my GP told me that I needed an urgent one. He thinks that I may needa a Dilation in my neck where the anastomosis between the stomach and old 2 inch piece of gullet where food went stuck a week last Sunday. Guest guest
Hey - I've had 3 dilations now since my -ectomy in January. Scar tissue build up at the anastamosis is not uncommon. My first 2 were done by my surgeon, who also scraped the scar tissue and I felt IMMEDIATE relief. As soon as I woke up, I drank some water and it felt like the drain had been unplugged. I just had my 3rd one on Friday by a local GI and while he was not as aggressive, I felt immediate relief once again. The good thing (for me anyway) is that each one gets easier and lasts longer. I'm scheduling another for 4-6 weeks out and will continue on that kind of schedule until I stay open. I'm glad you got the new appointment, keep us posted and hang in there. - in NC > > Hi > Heard yesterday afternoon that my appointment that was in August has been re-arranged for 30th June this month. Guest guest
Hi , Finally some speed! I hope you get that dilatation and it works for you. I am headed for my next one tomorrow, yum yum, food again (back on tube these last few days, as I didn't have to go in for dilatation last week, I will ask for weekly frequency again tomorrow). Guest guest
Hi Isabella Good luck for your dilation today. Many thanks for your e-mail. As I said I will see my surgeon on the 30th June and will see what he says but I will be pressing for a dilation and some answers as to what to do next. I can't go on having dillations willy nilly for ever can I? I have already had seven now including the last one on 15th May this year since my ectomy in October 2004 and the time space between each one is too erratic. The benefits from the last one only lasted hours because as soon as I tried to swallow some yoghurt after the dilation my throat went tight again and hasn't got any better. Perhaps my Thoracic surgeon who did the ectomy didn't take enough of my gullet out (he left 2 inches behind) at the time of the ectomy. Perhaps I may ask to be referred back to see him in Liverpool, UK for him to take out more or do a short myotomy in the throat called a Cricopharyngeal Myotomy. This is something that I am considering asking now as my swallowing is so bad that I am struggling with fluids. Thank God that I have the Jejunostomy feeds overnight at the rate of 80 mils per hour for 10 hours.
