Guest guest
Hello to everyone; I have had the surgery for achalasia, heller myotomy. In the last couple of months I have had difficulty swallowing (again). Has anyone that has had this procedure ever had to have the procedure done again? Or had difficulty swallowing after the procedure? Thanks for your feedback.

Guest guest
Yes, you can do an Advanced Search at Google Scholar, putting DeMeester, T as the author and " achalasia " in the title line, to find articles that he has published reporting on his experience with achalasia in the past. http://scholar.google.com/advanced_scholar_search?hl=en & lr= If a doctor has published multiple articles that have " achalasia " in the title, it suggests that they are highly experienced. This brings up several articles, including " Symptomatic outcome after Heller myotomy and Dor versus Toupet fundoplication for achalasia " published in the journal Gastroenterology in 2003. Unfortunately this one is not available online for free, but you could ask Dr. DeMeester to email you a copy. Another is " An Improved Method of Assessing Esophageal Emptying Using the Timed Barium Study Following Surgical Myotomy for Achalasia, " published in the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery in 2008. in PA -------------------------------------------------- From: " benoticed1 " <benoticed1@...> Sent: Wednesday, July 01, 2009 7:20 PM <achalasia > Subject: Heller Myotomy > I was recently cofirmed as having achalasia.
